When the previous owners lived there it was an absolute garbage heap. They moved out Feb '08 due to foreclosure, and the house has been empty and unsecured ever since. Oh, and yeah - as you can see, it's still pretty trashy.
Jon and I used to joke about wishing the house would burn down, and though it did catch fire several months ago (well, technically it was arson) it is still in tact for the most part. The fire was an insult more than anything, and I'm still annoyed it didn't properly burn down.
Anyway, dodgy people are in and out of there and we call the police whenever we see activity. We can only do so much, but since we got back from vacation and called the police several times over just a few days, foot traffic has gone down. People became quite bold while we were gone, with someone breaking a window and the air conditioning unit finally being relieved of its copper. The last report I received from Metro Codes was they haven't been able to determine exactly who the new owner is, which seems a bit ridiculous to me.
I have slacked on this issue the last few weeks with the start of school, but since catching the previous owner brazenly lurking around the property, I am back on the war path. Transients, Beware!

You should complain to your sorry ass landlord.
I'm surprised it took this long for someone to steal the copper. A few months ago I saw an old man - very much resembling a crack addict - riding his bike through my neighborhood carrying a five gallon bucket full of copper piping. hhhhhmmmmm..... yea, I called the police.
And you might be able to track down the owners through tnrealestate.com or

just a thought.
Wow, that reminds me of the "green house" before you get to our house in Alaska. There were a lot of drunkards in and out. One time, I was alone and there was a guy (drunk) who wanted to use our phone and I said No, if you don't leave I would call a police officer. He ran as fast as he could! Hahaha. I was really scared!
Maybe you could keep some golf clubs near your door and threaten the neighbors with them, much like your dad did after the potato-throwing incident at the "green house"...\"/
